About

Born, raised and alpinistically socialized in the Bavarian «Fünfseenland» (land of the five lakes), the Swiss city of Bern is now my cherished adopted home.

School years were arduous and it was good when they were over. This was followed by studies in sports science, geography and sustainable development in Munich and Bern, as well as professional experience as a kitchen assistant, Crêpe seller, museum attendant, surf instructor, primary school teacher, project manager and journalist. After nine years of interesting, somewhat meaningful, but unfortunately sedentary computer work for a relevant environmental organization, my back hurt; and my eyes. This, frighteningly enough, in spite of leisure time spent consistently on the mountain. Soon it was clear: a handicraft was needed. With two left hands, two healthy legs and an average IQ, it was clear that the only option was the honorable craft of mountain guiding.

Joking aside: hundreds of beautiful, enjoyable and sometimes hair-raisingly horrifying days on rock, ice and snow were followed by three intense years of guides training. Since graduation in summer 2022, I am now a full-time IFMGA mountain guide. The work with head, heart and hand, with different people and in wild nature inspires me every day.
